USPTO to Hold 12th Annual Independent Inventors Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina

Top officials from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, successful inventors and entrepreneurs will headline the agency ’s annual Independent Inventors Conference. The event will be held September 14-15, 2007 in conjuction with North Carolina State University, College of Textiles and the National Inventors Hall of Fame® Foundation.

A pre-conference workshop (September 13, 2007 from 5pm ? 7pm) is included with your registration for anyone interested in learning why patents exist and how they protect inventions. This is a basic workshop for beginners and will be repeated during the conference.

USPTO presenters will include Margaret J. A. Peterlin, Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office and Peggy Focarino, Deputy Commissioner for Patent Operations.

Presenters at this year’s conference include Michael Sykes, successful inventor and winner of the 2007 Modern Marvels Invent Now® Challenge; Louis Foreman, successful inventor and CEO of Enventys and Everyday Edisons Productions; Alan Baum, President of the USA and Canada Licensing Executive Society; and Monica Doss, president of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development of North Carolina.
